INTERTECH plus s.r.o. has actively participated in the development of a low noise protection barrier which is a full-valued substitute for traditional noise protection barriers. Its shape is adjusted in order to absorb the noise from the rail traffic directly at the source and prevent its further spreading. Barriers reach the height of 0.73 m, and therefore they are a more suitable solution for populated areas because they do not obscure the view into the landscape as the classic noise protection barriers with height of 3 m. Another of numerous advantages is a better access to the railway for rescue service and a better possibility for passenger evacuation in an emergency.
The low noise protection barrier was installed for the first time in Tetčice in 2013 where the erection of the high noise-protection barrier was rejected by citizens as it would obstruct the view. The attenuation for local trains and express trains at the range between 6.23 and 6.91 dB was achieved there (1.2 m above the top of the rail at the distance of 7.5 m from the axis of the track at the speed of 80 km/h) and the attenuation for engine units up to 11.5 dB (at the speed of 60 km/h). Measurements were repeated after more than 6-month operation and giving the same results comparable with the common noise protection wall.
